Ms. Feehan’s practice areas include personal injury defense, railroad defense, general litigation, insurance defense, premises liability, products liability, toxic torts, contract disputes, insurance coverage disputes, and transportation law. Her experience includes civil defense representation of clients in both state and federal court for claims brought pursuant to state common and statutory law, including claims arising under theories of ordinary negligence, negligent hiring, negligent retention, breach of contract and breach of implied covenants, as well as direct actions against insurers for failure to settle within policy limits and/or in good faith.

In addition to defense of claims arising under various state laws, Ms. Feehan’s experience also includes civil defense representation of clients in both state and federal court, including first chair management of complex litigation in state and federal courts in Virginia and the District of Columbia. In addition, Ms. Feehan has extensive experience in commercial and consumer litigation, including litigating securities arbitrations. Ms. Feehan presides as a licensed arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA, formerly NASD) over disputes between investors, brokers, and securities firms.

Outside of practicing law, Ms. Feehan is the proud daughter of a U.S. Navy pilot and she enjoys spending time with friends and family, including her husband, Tim, and their 11 and 15 year old sons. Her  hobbies include sailing, kayaking, fishing, watching University of Virginia football, and restoring her 1905 Victorian home.

REPRESENTATIVE ENGAGEMENTS:

Successful representation of corporate defendant in Eastern District of Virginia, and again on appeal before the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, in two toxic tort cases seeking $4 million for personal injuries.

Defended bank in three related cases, all of which resulted in dismissals in favor of bank, in the Eastern District of Virginia, the District Court for the District of Columbia, and state court, seeking over $9 million dollars in damages based on theories of fraud, breach of contract, violation of implied covenants of good faith and fair dealing, unjust enrichment, and negligence.  Also, successfully represented bank on appeal to Fourth Circuit of Virginia, upholding the client’s victories.

Successfully argued in papers before the Eastern District of Virginia and Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals for loss payee on auto policies, asserting that insurers’ refusal to pay claims for loss of insured trucks in fire was breach of contract.
