J. Ward Best Elected Chairman of the Virginia Trucking Association

J. Ward Best, vice president of Atlantic Bulk Carrier, has been elected chairman of the Virginia Trucking Association.

The Virginia Trucking Association (VTA) is the largest and only statewide organization dedicated solely to advocating for trucking fleets and their allied vendors. The association represents the interests of the trucking industry before the Virginia General Assembly, Virginia’s congressional delegation as well as state and federal regulatory agencies. One of the primary missions of the VTA is to promote safe roadways for all motorists.

“Ward has been a leader in the VTA’s Safety & Human Resources Management Council and played a valuable role in the development of the Association’s most recent strategic plan,” said VTA President & CEO Dale Bennett. “He will provide outstanding leadership for the VTA and Virginia’s trucking industry as the Association sets the course for its future.”

Best has worked for Atlantic Bulk Carrier, Virginia’s largest tank-truck carrier, since 1996. Best has served on the VTA Safety & Human Resources Council and was elected to the VTA Executive Committee last year. He has actively served on other industry and safety-related organizations and associations.

“I’m pleased and honored by the election as chairman,” Best said. “Trucking is essential to the economy of our commonwealth and our nation. The VTA is vital to the thousands of men and women working at the many great trucking companies and their allied vendors throughout the state.”
