Jason Mackey, winner of several legal awards over the years, has a grandmother who sort of trumped his awards for all time. Meet the late great Frances Scott, the first African American female attorney in the city of Spokane, Washington, who just had an elementary school named after her. In the unanimous and historic vote, the Spokane Public School Board renamed Sheridan Elementary School after Scott, who taught at Rogers High School for 30 years, and later led the local teacher’s union.
