Mr. Armstead is a civil litigation attorney whose practice focuses on complex disputes in Virginia state and federal courts. He represents businesses, insurers, employers, and individuals in a broad range of disputes, including commercial litigation, labor and employment matters, insurance defense, creditor’s rights, landlord-tenant litigation, real property disputes, and arbitration proceedings.
Prior to joining Setliff Law, Mr. Armstead practiced litigation with a Richmond-area firm, where he served as both first and second chair in trials and evidentiary hearings throughout Virginia. His experience includes drafting and arguing dispositive motions, managing discovery, conducting depositions, negotiating settlements, and preparing cases for trial from inception through resolution.
Mr. Armstead has appeared before Virginia Circuit Courts and General District Courts, as well as the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia. He is known for his practical, detail-oriented approach to litigation and for developing efficient strategies tailored to each client’s objectives and risk profile.
At Setliff Law, Mr. Armstead’s practice aligns with the firm’s longstanding focus on transportation litigation, insurance defense, premises liability, employment matters, and other complex civil claims. He has a particular interest in litigation strategy, procedural advocacy, and emerging issues affecting businesses and insurers.
Mr. Armstead earned his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law and is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Outside of work, Mike enjoys disc golf, community theatre, karaoke, and spending time with his family and his dog, Winston.
