Rhanelle is an experienced attorney whose practice encompasses general civil litigation, municipal law, employment and labor matters, contract negotiations, policy development, investigations, and legal advising. As an associate at Setliff Law, she focuses her practice on general civil litigation.
Prior to joining Setliff Law, Rhanelle served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Richmond, where she provided legal counsel to the Richmond Police Department and advised on civil litigation, employment and labor matters, contracts, legislation, policy development, investigations, and Virginia Freedom of Information Act matters. She also represented the City in personnel board and arbitration proceedings.
Before entering municipal practice, Rhanelle spent more than 15 years as a prosecutor, handling hundreds of criminal matters involving homicides, sexual assaults, human trafficking, domestic violence, robberies, fraud, and computer crimes. Throughout her prosecutorial career, she served in supervisory and leadership roles, advised law enforcement on investigations and charging decisions, and provided training to law enforcement officers and community partners.
Rhanelle is admitted to practice in Virginia and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. She is a contributing author to the Virginia CLE Publications Juvenile Law and Practice in Virginia and has appeared as a legal professional on television.
Outside the office, Rhanelle enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and experiencing the arts. She is also actively involved in several community and professional organizations.
