Setliff Law, P.C., Partner Honored As One Of The Best

Richmond, VA (October 2009) C. Stephen Setliff, one of the founding partners of Setliff Law, P.C., has been recognized for his superior practice of transportation law by both the Super Lawyers magazine listing and by Best Lawyers in America. Setliff was named in the 2009 Virginia Super Lawyers publication in the field of transportation law, and was recognized again in the Best Lawyers in America list for 2009 and 2010. Including his 2008 listing, this makes three consecutive years that Setliff has been celebrated on the Best Lawyers in America list.

Each year, Super Lawyers magazine publishes a list of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Only five percent of attorneys in Virginia are chosen for this honor. “It is a privilege for me to be acknowledged by my peers in this way,” Setliff said. “I consider it a testament to this firm's dedication to its clients, not just in transportation law, but for every client on every case we touch.”

Setliff was also recently selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2010 in the field of transportation law (Copyright 2009 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, S.C.). Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-review survey in which more than 32,000 leading attorneys cast almost two million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their specialties. Best Lawyers is the oldest peer review publication in the legal profession and because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be included, a listing in Best Lawyers in generally regarded within the legal profession as a signature honor, conferred on a lawyer by his peers.

Setliff practices in transportation law, tort liability, personal injury, products liability, landlord tenant and premises liability, and general litigation law in the Glen Allen (Richmond) office of Setliff Law. He is coordinating and trial counsel for two of the nation's Class 1 railroads and the nation's largest passenger rail carrier, and he is trial counsel in Virginia and Maryland for several trucking companies. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel and is active with the Virginia Railway Association, Virginia Trucking Association, and American Trucking Association. Setliff is a former Vice Chairman of the Third District Disciplinary Committee of the Virginia State Bar.
